As you can all imagine it’s been a very sombre and sad week around school after the passing of Ben McCarthy at the beginning of the week. We have all shared many memories of Ben and laughed and shed tears. Ben was a very important member of our staff for many years. I was lucky enough to have known Ben for over 20 years as we both started PNBHS together. I was very happy to see his happy, friendly face when I arrived here two years ago. The condolences that we have had from a range of people and workplaces in the wider Hokowhitu School community has been welcomed and appreciated by all. Thank you also for your consideration and understanding too at this time. We will miss Ben greatly, his laughter, his commitment to teaching, his impact that made kids smile and learn to the best of their abilities , his aerobics and overall we will miss his cheerful and caring nature.
Rest easy old mate, travel safe.
