Term 3, Week 5 - 2021

At the time of writing this newsletter we are still waiting to hear what is happening about alert levels for next week, so please bear with us. It is inevitable we will need to postpone events (e.g. the sausage sizzle, teacher only day, photos, TKW ball etc). We will do our very best to reschedule them - when it is safe to do so. Updated information will come to you as soon as I receive the official advice from MOE. We are approaching everything under their direction as required. Unfortunately, it is highly likely that some/many of our calendar events will be affected.

However, once things settled down last year, you will recall that we worked SUPER hard to provide alternative ways to ensure our tamariki had loads of exciting experiences - of course we’ll do the same again this time. Kia kaha.

In preparation for a move to Alert Level 3 (just an assumption on my part, I have NO inside knowledge I promise) - I need an accurate number of children who will need to return to school. At AL3 the message from MOE and MOH guidelines is clear. School is only open to those children who genuinely NEED to come to school (i.e. children of essential workers with no alternative care). Please consider alternatives such as older siblings (14 years +) supervising, if parents are working or studying from home - children are to stay home. If you can safely use grandparents etc to supervise, the children can stay home. We are trying to keep our school bubble as small as possible for the safety of teachers, students and their whanau. In saying this, if you have no other option (and have not already completed the form) please do so urgently. Attendance for Alert Level 3 Form. The board has decided that FOR THE COMING WEEK (if we are indeed at Level 3), this attendance form needs to be completed by noon on Sunday, 29th August. No enrolments will be accepted after this time - we need to have sufficient notice to prepare bubbles and staff.

All other children will continue to receive on-line learning or hardcopy packs throughout AL 3. We will advise pick up options for additional hardcopy materials as soon as possible.

We are now a whole week into ‘learning from home’. Thanks so much for the positive feedback we have received from many of you who have appreciated the staff efforts to get devices/packs and learning programmes into your homes so quickly. There was a lot of behind the scenes work that went in over the last weekend. We appreciate just how busy your lives are now, so we are offering learning opportunities and/or times to just ‘touch base’. Please don’t feel pressured to complete everything or participate in everything. Just do what you can, when you can.

We’ve enjoyed seeing photos of the many varied creations/activities/learning/fun that has been taking place this week, and hope you enjoy seeing a selection of them here in the newsletter.
