Our sincere thanks goes to Phillip Steer (BoT Community representative) who has spent a considerable amount of time compiling your responses to the 2016 Community Consultation. We do thank everyone who participated and your ideas will be considered as we strategically plan the future years here at Hokowhitu.
Over the coming weeks, I will share some of the findings and then some possible next steps.
36% of the student population responded to the survey. 86% of the respondents view our mission statement positively. 90 - 92% of respondents had a positive view to the way reading and writing are taught, 83% in mathematics/numeracy.
91 - 93% of responses viewed their child/children’s physical and emotional safety positively at school (an increase in both areas since 2013). We are very pleased to see increasing confidence in children’s safety and this is something we will continue to focus on.
It was fabulous to have such a great turnout of parents/whanau at Monday morning’s assembly. The children really enjoy the chance to perform to an audience. Thanks so much to everyone who came along. Our next assembly will be on Monday the 31st October - TKT will be on the stage and we also have representatives from ASB coming in to launch our reintroduction of ‘school banking’. Everyone is most welcome.
Welcome to Term 4. A very special welcome to our new/returning staff - Robyn Ryder in the Office Manager’s role, Gaylene Thompson in our New Entrant room, and Sue Lynch who is supporting groups.
Welcome to the 7 new students who have started so far this term - with more to come in the coming weeks.
