Entries for October 2017

Term 4, Week 2 - 2017

Selected students from across the school are having an opportunity to work with the Plant to Plate volunteers who are here on Wednesday mornings for the first 4 weeks of this term. This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to prepare, cook and enjoy food that is heavily based around fresh vegetables that can be grown in a home or school garden. The learners from our ‘Green Team’ have had priority participation in the programme as they have already shown a passion for this.
Special thanks to Mrs Handcock who has co-ordinated this year’s Plate to Plate programme.

Term 4, Week 1 - 2017

Welcome to Term 4 everyone - we have an ‘action packed’ 9 week term planned. Highlights will include our inquiry focus ‘Mātauranga’ - with our curriculum focus being science, our school and interschool athletic sports, our very popular Christmas Carnival and all the usual end of year activities/celebrations.

It was fantastic to welcome Mr Drew Pouniu, our new Deputy Principal, at his mihi whakatau on Monday morning. Drew has already made an excellent start, getting around classrooms, meeting the children, supporting the staff and starting his intervention groups too. Please feel free to introduce yourself to Drew when you are in the school - he is very keen to establish strong home/school connections.
