Entries for March 2018

Term 1, Week 9 - 2018

Thanks so much to everyone who makes an effort to have the children here at school soon after 8.30am. We value the children having the opportunity to develop independent morning routines that see them ready to start learning when the 8.50am bell goes.

We do discourage arrival before 8.30am (except for the daily road patrollers). This is so that staff can complete preparation and/or attend meetings in order to have them ready to give the children undivided attention on their arrival.

There is also no road patrol or supervision before this time - so safety is an issue. Please remember that everyone arriving before 8.30am needs to wait by the large noticeboard until the 8.30am bell (rather than congregate near the front door, or outside their classroom entry points, or head around to play).

Term 1, Week 8 - 2018

To Jo and John Mullinger (of Advanced Sheetmetals), your unwavering commitment to have our swimming pool up and running is so very much appreciated by us. Thank you for yet another summer of fantastic support.
The pool is now closed for the season. The water is no longer being treated and so it will be unsafe for swimming. Please return your pool key to the office by the end of next week.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the maintenance and care of the pool over the summer months.

Congratulations to the selected Year 5 and 6 students who represented our school at the Interschool Triathlon event earlier this week. Do we have your correct email address? Increasingly, we are receiving requests for notices and newsletters to be emailed or sent by the school app, rather than hard copied, and it would actually reduce printing costs for us to do so. PLEASE contact the office if we do not have a recorded email address for you, or if you think yours may be out of date.

You will also have received an alert this week inviting you to update your alert subscriptions on the Hokowhitu School smart phone app. e.g. If you have a child in TKM, who plays touch and summer hockey you can subscribe to messages that only TKM members, or touch or summer hockey members will receive. You will still continue to receive apps that are sent out to the whole school.

We will continue with a hard copy of the newsletter until our current print run expires, after which time only people who actually

request a hard copy will receive one (with the eldest member of the family).
