Entries for March 2021
Term 1, Week 8 - 2021
31 March, 2021 by Hokowhitu School
We have a busy few weeks coming up and as we have 2 short weeks ahead of us (around the Easter break),
please be sure you are aware of upcoming events.
Please also note that the Easter break for schools this year includes school being closed on Friday the 2nd April,
Monday the 5th and Tuesday 6th April.
Term 1 closes at 3pm on Friday 16th April and Term 2 opens at 8.50am on Monday 3rd May.
Term 1, Week 7 - 2021
19 March, 2021 by Hokowhitu School
It has been a busy sporting week with the Years 1-3 duathlon and the Year 5/6 interschool triathlon taking place.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in one of these events this week.
PTA UPDATE
What an awesome team of parents who came together after school on Wednesday afternoon to start planning some fun
and fundraising events for the coming months.
A pizza lunch at the end of the term, a frozen food fundraiser early next term, a disco midway through T2 and then a
‘wheelathon’ around mid-year are all things on the radar!
Even if you can’t attend meetings, you are welcome to support the PTA by helping out with specific events. The more
hands we have on deck, the lighter the workload for everyone.
Term 1, Week 6 - 2021

We hope that many of you were able to pop into the classrooms before school today and enjoy sharing some of your
child’s learning with them.
Congratulations to all those children who are independently coming into their rooms in the mornings - whānau you
should be very impressed with their ability to complete morning routines etc by themselves.
Staff are always willing to make an appointment to chat with you if you want to have a discussion regarding your child
and/or their learning.
We look forward to our upcoming Goal Setting evenings on the 30th and 31st of March (for those children who have not
had a 6 week or 6 month interview already this year).
Term 1, Week 5 - 2021
06 March, 2021 by Hokowhitu School
Thank you for the seamless way so many of you have responded to the return to Alert Level 2 this week.
Unfortunately, we may need to maintain this flexibility for some time yet - keep smiling and rest assured that we are working hard to
make sure that AS MANY THINGS AS POSSIBLE still occur for the tamariki.
As soon as we are back to alert level one we will be encouraging parents to come into the classroom before school on Whānau Friday.
We will, however, continue to do the morning ‘meet and greet’ and the ‘end of the day pick up’ at the agreed meeting points.
Term 1, Week 4 - 2021
01 March, 2021 by Hokowhitu School
We are very pleased to be able to let you know that Mrs Jennifer Bates has been appointed as our new Office
Manager. Jen will commence duties full time in the office from the 15th March. For the coming weeks, we are
lucky to have Jen and Diane Wackrow working in tandem part time - thank you.
Congratulations Jen - we are delighted to have you return to our team.
