Entries for July 2017
Term 3, Week 1 - 2017
28 July, 2017 by Hokowhitu School
Welcome to Term 3 everyone! I hope everyone managed to ‘make some happy memories’ with your children over the term break.
A special ‘welcome’ to Mrs Tracey Orr who has opened up our final New Entrant class for this year, and also a huge ‘welcome back’ to Reece Hawkins. Mr Hawkins has successfully completed the Science Leadership Teaching Programme and has come back full of enthusiasm to further develop our science programmes here at school.
We also welcomed 8 new students this week - we hope you are all settled and happy in our school in no time at all.
Term 2, Week 10 - 2017

By the time you area reading this newsletter book week will be ‘done and dusted’ for 2017. It has been a week full of fun - with a professional story teller, writing workshops (for selected sstudents), celebrity/guest story readers daily in classrooms, bedtime stories with our fabulous guest ‘king and queen’, and of course the famous ‘dress as your favourite book character’, along with the ‘book and bake’ sale day today.
Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out by reading, baking, assisting at the bake sale or bedtime stories, purchasing a book from the Book Fair, coming to watch the parade - we appreciate your support hugely.
The money raised this week has been used to pay for the costs associated with Zebong - the professional storyteller. Thank you to the PTA for supporting our children with this experience! Any opportunity for children to engage positively with litera\cy in general and books in particular, has to be good for them.
Term 2, Week 9 - 2017
03 July, 2017 by Hokowhitu School
Next week is Book Week - yippee!! Mrs Handcock has done a fantastic job organising loads of fun activities and speakers. THANK YOU Lynne.
Please remember that Friday is ‘dress as your favourite book character’ day. The children do not need to wear school uniform on Friday - they can remain in their book character costume for the day if it is suitable to do so. If they would prefer to get changed after the parade, pop school uniform into their bag.
Weather permitting, we will be holding a ‘ book character parade’ at 9am, so everyone gets to enjoy everyone else’s outfits - do stay and watch the parade yourself if you can.
