Term 3, Week 5 - 2017

Hasn’t it been lovely to see the sun this week? Gives us hope that spring is truly on its way. However, the sodden grounds are taking considerable drying out so the children have needed to stay off the grass areas to give them a chance to recover. Please remember to have a change of uniform in the school bag if your child is one that is likely to ‘slip’ in the mud (or need a change due to accidents). We just don’t have enough spare clothing here to be able to manage.

It would also be helpful to have any clothing we have loaned children to be washed and returned to school promptly. Thank you

I am pleased to be able to let you know that an appointment has been made for our new Deputy Principal. Mr Drew Pioniu will be joining our staff from the beginning of next term. Drew will bring new strengths to our school - he is particularly passionate about the performing arts, Pasifika and Maori culture, and ICT. Drew comes to us from Riverdale School. Prior to this he was the Assistant Principal at Papatoetoe North School in Auckland. Helen Griffin, Drew and I will form the senior leadership team.

Term 3, Week 3 - 2017

Congratulations to the 12 senior students selected to represent our school at today’s Mathex competition. Edmund, Charlotte, Anisa and Gracie are the Year 5 team. Jason, Mareko, Esther and Emily formed one of the Year 6 teams with Aiden, CJ, Al-Bara and Jenson forming our second Year 6 team. It is always a really challenging competition with the entire region’s ‘best mathematical problem solvers’ competing against one another in a time -pressured environment.

Term 3, Week 2 - 2017

Thank you to everyone who made the time to attend one of our goal setting evenings this week. We enjoy having the opportunity to talk with you about your child’s learning and we love seeing the children sharing their learning with you too. One thing we know for sure is that the future employment pathways these children will take will differ from those in the past, and so we are passionate about developing the children’s skills to ‘own’ their learning.
The teachers are willing to discuss your child’s learning with you at any stage in the year - pop in, phone or email to make an appointment.
