Entries for September 2018
Term 3, Week 10 - 2018
28 September, 2018 by Hokowhitu School
It is great to reflect on what has been an ‘action packed’ term - He Waka Eke Noa (We are all in this together). Highlights have been the hugely successful Major Production, the successes of our dance squads, the many successes of winter sports teams, the very well attended Parent Information evening looking at upcoming health programmes, the student- led Goal Setting evenings, the performance of our Mathex teams, students’ ongoing inquiries that have resulted in authentic outcomes etc, etc, etc.
None of these things would be possible without a TEAM effort. Indeed - Together Everyone Achieves More! I thank each and every one of my talented staff, I also thank each and every member of our school community/whānau who supports the school. Coaching/managing sports teams, transporting children, sharing your expertise or passions, showing an interest in your child’s learning - are all very much appreciated.

Our very best wishes go with the Hokowhitu School Dance ‘Strivers’ who are competing tomorrow night in the National Finals of DanceNZMade. Having won their regional final was a huge success and we know the team will compete tomorrow night with 100% commitment and STRIVE to be the best they can be.
Once again, sincere thanks to Mr Pouniu and Mrs Flaus for their work with the team, and also to the parents/whānau who have assisted with makeup and hair!

It has been fantastic to hear your positive feedback regarding last week’s Major Production. ‘Thank you’ means such a lot and the fact that you enjoyed the performance so much is an added bonus! To everyone who has taken the time to pop in, send an email, send something delicious for us to enjoy at morning tea - thank you!!
Term 3, Week 7 - 2018
07 September, 2018 by Hokowhitu School
Wow - what a week for the Performing Arts at Hokowhitu School. Our dance group won their division of the Regional final of DanceNZMade last Friday evening. This means they progress to the National finals being held here in Palmerston North on the 22nd September. The team was just a joy to watch - enthusiastic, passionate and polished! Ka pai to mahi! More information will come home with the competitors as soon as possible. Last night’s Major Production was another huge ‘wow’. I think everyone was blown away with the colourful extravaganza wrapped around well-known Māori myths and legends of Aotearoa. Once again, my hugest thanks to our staff and tamariki - you guys rock!
