Term 3, Week 9 - 2021

There was lots of laughter and smiles as we celebrated Wig Wednesday/Wacky Hair day earlier in the week. The student council organised this event to support Child Cancer. A very pleasing $558.00 is on its way to this very worthwhile cause. Thank you so much for your creativity, support and generosity. You can still donate by following the link below https://wigwednesday.org.nz/hokowhituschool

ALERT LEVELS

We will be remaining at AL 2 for the remainder of this term so the current drop off/pick up times and points will remain in place. Thanks so much to everyone who is taking this in their stride - the tamariki are building on their self-managing skills every single day.
Next term we’ll be surveying you to see if the majority of whānau want to continue with the split finish times and the same drop off/pick up arrangements in 2022.

Term 3, Week 8 - 2021

At the end of this term we will farewell Mrs Burch who will be commencing her parental leave. We are excited for you both Michelle and Scott, and can’t wait to hear news of the baby's safe arrival.
Mrs Kirstine Hintz will go from her part time role into a full time position in TKM for Term 4. We thank Kirstine for stepping into this role for us too.

ALERT LEVELS

PLEASE NOTE - Drop off and pick up procedures are slightly different to those at alert level 1. While at Level 2, the children are to be dropped at school no earlier than 8.30am, staff will be at their meet and greet points to welcome the tamariki in - we will deliver them back to these points at 2.45pm for TKW and TKP and at 3.00pm for TKM, TKA and TKT.
The purpose for this is to restrict the number of adults we have in a limited space at the same time.

There is to be no playing or gathering at school at the end of the day either.

We will hear from the Prime Minister next Monday afternoon as to whether or not we will change alert levels mid-way through next week.

RETURN TO SCHOOL

We are not sure who was the most excited on drop off to school yesterday morning - the children or the adults! It was lovely to see the enthusiasm and everyone commented on just how very ‘chatty’ the tamariki were on their first day back! Both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education are confident that with appropriate hygiene practices and caution around ‘higher risk activities’ in place, the tamariki are perfectly safe here at school. We are exercising caution around activities they consider to be a ‘higher risk’ of any droplet contamination, but mostly, we are able to get on with ‘almost normal’ school life.
On-line learning is no longer available - learning is now completed here at school.
PLEASE NOTE - Drop off and pick up procedures are slightly different to those at alert level 1. While at Level 2, the children are to be dropped at school no earlier than 8.30am, staff will be at their meet and greet points to welcome the tamariki
