Term 4, Week 7 - 2020

Congratulations to Mrs Flaus and her Jump Jam team that performed so well last weekend at the National competition in Tauranga. I have had several parents (who attended) pay compliments to the team performance and Mrs Flaus was also very proud of each of you. Tino pai to mahi!
Our rippa rugby team also performed really well in the inter-school tournament on Tuesday. Well done to each of you and special thanks to Mr Hawkins, Mr Hodge and Angus Gifford Moore for supporting the team.

Term 4, Week 6 - 2020

It has been lovely to see so many of you here at school supporting your children by watching either their fundamental skills lesson or the athletic sports over recent weeks.

OAK TREE REMOVAL

Sadly, one of our beautiful large oak trees is needing to be removed in the coming days. We have been monitoring a decaying section in the trunk and have recently seen this area increase significantly. We have had our arborist look at the tree, and he has recommended it be removed before it becomes a health and safety issue. Many, many children have played in this tree, over many years - we will be very sad to see it gone.

Term 4, Week 5 - 2020

There is NO school for the tamariki tomorrow. We are having a TEACHER ONLY day, and the staff will be working on end of year reporting details.
We look forward to seeing the children back from 8.30am on Monday 16th November.

Term 4, Week 4 - 2020

Earlier this week Mrs Hodge, Mrs Griffin and Mr Chadwick walked the Waka Iti children down to Milverton Kindergarten to visit them in their setting. Visits like this can help to smooth the transitions from ECE to school and it also gives our newest school learners the chance to reconnect with early childhood experiences. This is especially powerful for children who may have attended the centre themselves, or those at kindy who will be attending our school when they turn 5.
Earlier in the term Waka hosted tamariki from Hokowhitu Kindergarten - for exactly the same reasons.

Term 4, Week 3 - 2020

The Year 4 sleepover and EOTC day out to Nga Manu was a huge success. My sincere thanks to Mrs Gifford Moore, Miss Bisset and Miss Weeks for their enthusiasm and passion to see this go ahead. Special thanks to the team of parents who also gave their time to support the staff - staying overnight, food prep, and support with groups on Friday. We simply couldn’t have done it without you! Ka pai.
