What a fantastic effort with last week’s mufti day. $846.50 cents was raised to assist with the flood damage to Te Rangimarie Marae and the Te Awe Awe’s whare and possessions. Thank you so much to everyone who supported this fundraiser!
Our thoughts and best wishes go to everyone who has been affected by last weekend’s weather. Our special thoughts are with Wiremu and Trieste Te Awe Awe who are our school’s kaumatua. Te Rangimarie Marae is their home and the entire area surrounding them was severely flooded.
Wiremu and Trieste support our school in many ways, assisting with mihi whakatau, completing blessings, providing our tamariki with genuine experiences on the marae, just for starters.
At this week’s PTA meeting we farewelled Shelley O’Halloran, as our Chairperson extraordinaire! While Shelley and the ‘O’ family do not leave New Zealand until later in the year, she has resigned from both her positions within the school, effective from the end of this term.
How lucky we have been to have been recipients of Shelley’s enthusiasm and passion for everything “Hokowhitu School’. Regardless of whether it has been fundraising, ‘fun’raising, supporting staff, helping kids with their learning - everything has been done with a smile and a willingness to support! Thank you Shelley - you are one of the best! We will miss you!
This week we farewell Mrs Bradnock who has done a superb job of teaching music to almost every class across the school so far this year. Jo’s choir performed at assembly on Wednesday and was simply breath-taking.
While we are sad to say goodbye Jo - we are eagerly awaiting news of the new Bradnock baby’s arrival!
It is fantastic to see how many families are trying to help us by selling raffle tickets for our monster raffle.
