It is fantastic to see how many families are trying to help us by selling raffle tickets for our monster raffle.
Kapahaka, Choir, and a Mega Raffle! Hokowhitu School is a busy place this week.
Congratulations to all the children who STRIVED to be the best they could be in this week’s cross country. It takes courage, perseverance and determination to give 100% effort over a long distance race, and for some children completing the course is a real achievement in itself. Our top place getters in Years 5 and 6 will need to continue their training in preparation for the extra challenge of the Interschool Event that is being held on the 11th June at Massey University. Certificates will be given out at next week’s assembly.
It is exciting watching the donations for our monster raffle grow - thank you to all the generous people who have made a donation of either a gift or cash to purchase vouchers etc. We are looking forward to having enough prizes to allow several draws in the raffle as it makes it much easier to sell tickets when there are a number of prizes.
All funds raised are going to support the Board of Trustees current project to have our own all-weather turf at Hokowhitu School.
At the time of writing this newsletter all reports from the Ruahine team away at camp have been very, very positive. Te Kete Aronui set off on Monday morning and Te Kete Manawa followed on Wednesday. The facilities and setting of the camp are just perfect! The children have not only had a whole lot of learning and fun outside the regular classroom setting, they have also had an extended period of time to relate to their peers, build relationships with staff and bond as a ‘team’.
