This afternoon our Prime Minister has announced that schools must close from tomorrow. This means that unfortunately there will be no school tomorrow.
The exception to this being that we can provide supervision for children of ‘essential staff,’ for one more day (that is tomorrow, 24/3/2020).
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern makes clear who counts as "essential services" who can remain working during level 4.
The whole supply chain for food is included - so that means farmers as well as supermarket staff.
Schools temporarily will also remain open. Some building and construction staff are counted as essential as well - those who might fix a problem in a hospital for example.
There will also be some public servants able to work.
Staff will be in contact with you via email to help with some home learning - if you have not received an email by 25/3/2020, please email your child’s whānau teacher yourself as we may not have your correct address.
Many children will have come home today with some ideas to support learning over the coming days.
Take care and please help our country save lives by following the Government’s direction.
