It is exciting watching the donations for our monster raffle grow - thank you to all the generous people who have made a donation of either a gift or cash to purchase vouchers etc. We are looking forward to having enough prizes to allow several draws in the raffle as it makes it much easier to sell tickets when there are a number of prizes.
All funds raised are going to support the Board of Trustees current project to have our own all-weather turf at Hokowhitu School.
At the time of writing this newsletter all reports from the Ruahine team away at camp have been very, very positive. Te Kete Aronui set off on Monday morning and Te Kete Manawa followed on Wednesday. The facilities and setting of the camp are just perfect! The children have not only had a whole lot of learning and fun outside the regular classroom setting, they have also had an extended period of time to relate to their peers, build relationships with staff and bond as a ‘team’.
Thank you to everyone who made the time to attend Learning Conferences this week. We really enjoy having the opportunity to share successes and next step learning with you and your ‘learner’ at the same time.
Staff - thank you for your commitment in the preparation and delivery of both progressive reports and learning conferences. Our community appreciates the effort you put into the home/school learning partnership too.
If you did not attend learning conferences this week, your child’s progressive report comes home with them today.
Term 2 is off to a roaring start.
The ‘Bangers and Maths’ evening on Tuesday was really well attended and informative.
Special thanks to Shelley O, Susan J, Sarah and Brett C who barbecued sausages that evening for a snack to get the children through to 7pm, and also to Mr. Choi Sushi Bar who very generously provided delicious sushi for the adults.
Our ‘Honour’ day celebration on Wed was also a huge success and gave the children a much richer understanding of the significance of ANZAC day. We will have our student ambassadors representing us at a memorial service tomorrow.
It is the end of term and Hokowhitu has many students to honour this week. Check out who and some important dates for next term here.
