2022 STAFFING
Sadly, Mrs Flaus and Miss Weeks will be leaving our school at the end of this year to take up positions at new schools. We
will miss you Laura and Charlotte and want to give you both our ‘hugest’ thanks for your contributions to our school. We
also wish you well in your new adventures. Mrs Burch is also on leave for next year.
We are delighted to announce our new appointments for next year.
Mrs Lisa Swale, Mrs Kirstine Hintz and Mr Clayton Evans join our permanent teaching team.
Mr Andrew Shirley has also accepted a position for 2022. Congratulations to all of you.
The appointments team were delighted with the high calibre of applicants for the positions advertised and feel confident
that these professionals will be great assets to our school.

CONGRATULATIONS
A number of our tamariki have been involved in the Dance NZ Made competitions this week. Congratulations to Abbie F
and Livvy G (duo) who have advanced to the national event being held this weekend. Jodeci participated in the regional
solos competition with her own choreographed piece.
Our Hokowhitu team entered in the DanceNZ made Regional Competition that competed last night and they not only won
their section but scored the most points of ANY team performing on the night (right up to Year 13 participants), so were
also named as the Overall Champions. Wow, wow, wow!!
Additionally - Emma W, Olivia Z and Inas also won golden tickets to a special event being held next month.
Sincere thanks to Mrs Flaus for the work she has put into these dances.
Also thanks to whānau who have sorted their children for these events. A big thank you to Sydney and Jay Pelman from
Anomaly Dance Studio who created a fantastic set for the children and trained them to perfection.
We wish our competitors all the very best as they perform in the National competition this weekend.
Term 4, Week 1 - 2021
22 October, 2021 by Hokowhitu School
Welcome to Term 4 - a special welcome to our new tamariki and your whānau. We are confident you will feel
happy and appreciated as a member of our school community.
We are continuing to work within Ministry of Education guidelines regarding activities that can or cannot
proceed due to the Delta variant of Covid19. While we are saddened when any event needs to be cancelled, we
remain upbeat and positive about the many things that we can be in control of - we have been much less
affected in our day to day lives than many places further north than us! I’m sure you’ll all join me in hoping that
Auckland and Waikato areas will soon be ‘closer to normal’ too.
Let’s hope we all know more about the way forward after the Government’s announcements today.
Term 3, Week 10 - 2021
03 October, 2021 by Hokowhitu School
What a fabulously ‘busy’ end to this term we’ve had. Book week activities this week were loads of fun and I
must admit coming to school in your dressing gown was very cosy too! Thanks to Mrs Gifford Moore for her
organisation of Book Week - due to alert levels, we needed to adapt some of the usual activities but .... we
managed to make it happen!
Term 3, Week 9 - 2021
24 September, 2021 by Hokowhitu School
There was lots of laughter and smiles as we celebrated Wig Wednesday/Wacky Hair day earlier in the week. The student
council organised this event to support Child Cancer. A very pleasing $558.00 is on its way to this very worthwhile cause.
Thank you so much for your creativity, support and generosity. You can still donate by following the link below

ALERT LEVELS
We will be remaining at AL 2 for the remainder of this term so the current drop off/pick up times and points will remain in
place. Thanks so much to everyone who is taking this in their stride - the tamariki are building on their self-managing skills
every single day.
Next term we’ll be surveying you to see if the majority of whānau want to continue with the split finish times and the
same drop off/pick up arrangements in 2022.
