Do we have your correct email address? Increasingly, we are receiving requests for notices and newsletters to be emailed or sent by the school app, rather than hard copied, and it would actually reduce printing costs for us to do so. PLEASE contact the office if we do not have a recorded email address for you, or if you think yours may be out of date.

You will also have received an alert this week inviting you to update your alert subscriptions on the Hokowhitu School smart phone app. e.g. If you have a child in TKM, who plays touch and summer hockey you can subscribe to messages that only TKM members, or touch or summer hockey members will receive. You will still continue to receive apps that are sent out to the whole school.

We will continue with a hard copy of the newsletter until our current print run expires, after which time only people who actually

request a hard copy will receive one (with the eldest member of the family).

Thank you for the sensible approach so many of you took to the weather warnings earlier in the week. Believe me, everyone’s safety is absolutely paramount to ALL of our staff and Board of Trustees, and there is no way we would take unnecessary risks or put our tamariki in known danger.
Everyone who has our school app on their cell phone will have received the regular updates from both the camps and other EOTC activities. If you haven’t downloaded the app, please do so - it is our BEST way of communicating with you quickly should we ever need to do so.

Go to your phone’s app store, search Hokowhitu School and download - it is free for you.
We also communicate with you via weekly newsletters (and specific notices as necessary) - we rely on the children to get these to you, so it might be a good idea for you to regularly check bags yourself to ensure you are up to date?

Thank you so much to everyone who supported ‘Bow Day’ yesterday - we raised $2,551.70 in cash and vouchers for Mr Pouniu and his whanau - a fantastic effort. A special thank you to the Hanson-Wall whanau who decided to make fantastic bow-ties for us to offer for wearing on Bow Day, it was a very generous and kind thing to do.
Drew has asked that we pass on his family’s very sincere thanks for the awhi and support - they feel truly humbled that we care so much!

Term 1, Week 2 - 2018

On the last day of the 2017 school year, representatives from Melody’s New World came to present us with a cheque as a result of their Go for Gold campaign. Can you imagine our excitement when we were told that we were the WINNING school, having earned the MOST points of any of the schools entered?
We were even more delighted to see that the cheque was for $1,952.15!

After consideration we have decided that the money will be used to pay/subsidise the costs for TWO visiting performers over this year. This way every child in our school benefits!
We want to express our very sincere thanks both to New World AND to each and every one of you (and/or your friends and family) who shopped at Melody’s New World and supported our school.
