Hokowhitu School Board of Trustees. All of New Zealand's state and state-integrated schools have a board of trustees. The board of trustees is the Crown entity responsible for the governance, and the control of management of the school. Boards are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school in consultation with parents, staff and students and ensuring that their school provides a safe environment and quality education for the school's students. Boards are also responsible for overseeing the management of personnel, property, finance and administration. Trustees are elected by the parent community, and staff members. Monthly Meetings • The Board of Trustees meet monthly in the school staff room. • Meeting dates and times are advertised in school newsletters. • Meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of each month, at 7.00 p.m., unless circumstances require a change. • Board meetings are open to the public, unless it is necessary to move into closed session. • All visitors are welcomed. School Policies The Board of Trustees has developed a comprehensive set of policies to guide the operation of our school. Parents are asked for their input into reviewing this. Log on to the SchoolDocs website as detailed above. The Homework policy can be accessed through the Curriculum link. Instructions from SchoolDocs: 1. Enter the user name (hokowhitu) and password (albert). 2. Follow the link to the relevant policy as listed. 3. Read the policy. 4. Click the Policy Review button at the right hand top corner of the page. 5. Select the reviewer type “Parent”. 6. Enter the password “pin”. 7. Enter your name (optional). 8.
